A “Wandering” New Yorker, Settled Down in Beantown

I spent the first 18 years of my life growing up in a wealthy, Long Island suburb of New York City. It was a wonderful and safe place but following high school I left and haven’t been back. I studied in Upstate New York, then post graduation I lived in lots of places on the East Coast, including Northern Virginia (Woodbridge), Washington D.C., Eastern Pennsylvania (Reading), New York City and Boston. I’ve visited cities in the Midwest, like Chicago, Louisville, Indianapolis and St. Louis. No matter where I lived or visited, I always wanted to explore parts of the US further West.

My pot of gold

My first time West of the Mississippi was in 1997. That summer I explored Colorado, working and playing in the front range of the Rockies, and traveled around the rest of the West Coast from Seattle to San Diego. On that trip I fell in love with San Francisco. That following Winter back in Boston, for my second year of business school, I decided with the woman that was to become my wife to move West. Melissa and I spent twelve years in San Francisco. We started our careers and our family out there. Married and with three kids, we moved back to Boston in 2011. After all the exploring and wandering (geographically speaking), our real life journey begins!
